Download Dolaima
Desktop builds are portable: download, unpack, run. No .NET runtime to install, no activation, no account (the terminal edition unpacks to a single executable; the GUI edition is its exe plus a few native libraries, unpacked together). Mobile installation notes are further down. Current version: —.
Each desktop platform ships two editions, listed as separate buttons:
the GUI edition (waycoder-gui, a desktop window) and the
terminal edition (waycoder, a full-screen terminal UI).
⚠ The web UI lives inside the terminal edition (waycoder --web opens the same agent
in your browser) — it is not a separate download. Both editions are built from the same core sources and
share one config and workspace (~/.waycoder/), so install either or both.
All packages are served from this site (faster in China); the
GitHub releases page is our second line of defence.
Windows
- Download the
.zipfor your architecture (pick x64 if unsure). - Unpack it anywhere (e.g.
D:\dolaima\). Nothing to install. - Run it: GUI edition — double-click
waycoder-gui.exe; terminal edition — open a terminal in that folder and runwaycoder.exe.
First-run prompt: the build is not code-signed, so SmartScreen may show “Windows protected your PC”. Choose More info → Run anyway — the usual notice for unsigned software, not a sign of a problem.
To use it from any directory, add the unpacked folder to your PATH.
Linux
# Unpack (x64 shown here)
tar -xzf waycoder-v0.96.798-linux-x64.tar.gz
cd waycoder-v0.96.798-linux-x64
# Run — single file, no runtime needed
./waycoder # terminal edition (full-screen TUI)
# GUI edition: same archive name with waycoder- replaced by waycoder-gui-, then run ./waycoder-gui
# Make it available globally
sudo install -m755 waycoder /usr/local/bin/waycoder
Install via apt (optional)
The apt repository is hosted on GitHub Pages. Handy for provisioning, but the version there may lag behind the latest release:
sudo mkdir -p /etc/apt/keyrings
curl -fsSL https://alecksty.github.io/waycoder/waycoder.gpg \
| sudo gpg --dearmor -o /etc/apt/keyrings/waycoder.gpg
echo "deb [signed-by=/etc/apt/keyrings/waycoder.gpg] https://alecksty.github.io/waycoder stable main" \
| sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/waycoder.list
sudo apt update && sudo apt install waycoder
macOS
# Apple silicon (M-series) or Intel — pick the matching archive
tar -xzf waycoder-v0.96.798-osx-arm64.tar.gz
cd waycoder-v0.96.798-osx-arm64
./waycoder # terminal edition (full-screen TUI)
# GUI edition: same archive name with waycoder- replaced by waycoder-gui-, then run ./waycoder-gui
Blocked by Gatekeeper? The build is not signed or notarised by Apple, so double-clicking may
report an unverified developer. Either right-click → Open in Finder, or run
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine ./waycoder.
Install via Homebrew (optional)
brew tap alecksty/waycoder
brew install alecksty/waycoder/waycoder
Android
- Download the
.apkabove (arm64 — that covers recent devices). - Tap it to install; allow “install unknown apps” when prompted.
- The first launch unpacks the VML standard library and sample programs (takes a moment, once).
Install blocked? On Xiaomi (MIUI / HyperOS) enable Install via USB under Settings → Developer options, or simply tap the APK from the file manager. Some devices also need “install unknown apps” granted to the file manager.
Grant “All files access” on first launch: the workspace, samples and config live in shared storage, and without that permission the app cannot see your files.
Free edition and Full edition on mobile
The free edition gives you the editor plus compiling and running C and VML assembly. Full is a one-time in-app purchase (not a subscription) that unlocks the compilers and the optimizer for all 27 languages. After switching phones or reinstalling, tap Settings → Full → Restore purchase; you are not charged twice.
iOS
The iOS build ships through the App Store (free download, one-time in-app purchase for the Full edition) and is in the review process. A direct link will appear here once it is live.
To try Dolaima in the meantime, use the desktop build, or reach us through Support and we will let you know when it ships.
Older versions
Installers and checksum lists for every release stay on the releases page — grab a previous one from github.com/alecksty/waycoder/releases.
⚠ Pinning an old build is not recommended long term: fixes are not backported. Read the release
notes before rolling back, and keep your workspace and configuration safe — they live in
~/.waycoder/ and are untouched by upgrades or downgrades.
Verify your download (recommended)
Every release ships a SHA256SUMS.txt. Hash the file you downloaded and compare:
# Windows (PowerShell / cmd)
certutil -hashfile waycoder-v0.96.798-win-x64.zip SHA256
# Linux / macOS
shasum -a 256 waycoder-v0.96.798-linux-x64.tar.gz
The checksum file is attached to the matching release on github.com/alecksty/waycoder/releases.
Upgrading
Desktop
# Check for a newer version
waycoder --update
# Check and self-replace
waycoder --update now
Updates prefer this site's update.json (faster), falling back to GitHub Releases and then
Gitee. On Windows the replacement happens after exit and restarts the app; on Linux and macOS the running
binary is replaced atomically.
⚠ The GUI edition (waycoder-gui) does not self-update yet: it has no
self-replace entry point — typing /update just tells you where to get the new build.
Download the new package from this page and unpack it over the old folder (your config and
workspace in ~/.waycoder/ are untouched).
Upgrading per platform
| Platform / how it was installed | How to upgrade |
|---|---|
| Windows / Linux / macOS (this site or GitHub) | In-app self-update — the commands above (terminal edition) |
| Android — direct APK from this site | In-app check for updates (About), or install the newer APK over the old one (no uninstall needed). ⚠ Only APKs from the new build onward carry that entry |
| Android — installed from Google Play (not published yet) | Only through Google Play |
| iOS — App Store | Only through the App Store |
⚠ The iOS and Google Play builds do not self-update: not a limitation but platform policy — those channels require updates to go through the store. Direct-download builds have no such restriction, which is why they ship the built-in updater.
